if you'd been there you'd know it wasn't crappy. best crowd in a very long time (better than zurich to be honest), some great performances, atmosphere was amazing.

This is exactly why people who think/thought sub 100 seconds for Rudisha need to take a step back.

1.13.7 is probably the slowest he could possibly reach in order to break 100 as he would then need 26.2 or thereabouts to crack it.

Bear in mind that in London, with perfect weather, motivation and a completely unimpeded run (no pointless pacemaker like that idiot Tangui even his line of sight) Rudisha was 0.7seconds slower at 600m and closed out in 26.5 for 1.40.9

100 seconds for 800m is not as crazy as the sub 2 hour marathon, but its not too far away from it

yes, but if you gave 2012 Rudisha a non useless pacer who gets him through 500 (1 lap of pacing), isn't that worth a second right there? 99.9.

As it stands, even with the phenomenal 2014/15/16 Rudisha and Amos, I don't think they'll beat 101 let alone 100

Crazy? Wilson Kipketer took a little over 0.6 off of Coe's WR in several steps. If Rudisha took 0.6 off of Kipketer's WR he'd be at 1:40.4. 0.4 is obviously still a good chunk in the 800, but not 'crazy' to contemplate.

It took 25 years for 6 WR holders to whittle 2.5 minutes off the marathon WR and get to 2:03:23. 2050 might be a guess for when 2:00 comes into focus.

I am not certain that the following comparison means too much, but it's worth considering that lots of HS kids can run 49.9 for the 400, but even the NCAA champion would come no where near 59:59 for the half marathon.
