track training is free only in places where tracks are public, which surprisingly is just not the case in a lot of places. Most tracks in Europe, in my experience, are club tracks around soccer fields and they often bar outsiders.

Gordon Pirie used to hop over the fence and do his track sessions in the near dark as he could not afford the fees.

K5 you are missing the point. In the mile that barrier was not nearly as big of a challenge as 10.00 seconds. The point is how many non-west Africans are now challenging for that barrier. Much harder to achieve then sub 4. Look how many non west Africans are very close to that barrier then ever before. The last two years we have a number of athletes of non- west African decent at 10.10 or faster. Facts do matter. As for Johnson I of course know he was the first non-west African. However, it did not set off a trend of non-west Africans running 10.10 or faster.

You do know that Nambia is located on the Western Side of Africa. If I were to say the first person not of Nigerian decent that would be a different thing.

It is not, however, part of West Africa, which is a specific region. It is part of Southern Africa, also a specific region.

The 400m winner is talented. he is still 23 and prime years still ahead funny him.

The fact he's Czech might play a role as he doesn't know he's supposed to be intimidated by black runners. And the Czech black population must be tiny.

Bracy only lost because he decided to wear a full body suit.

I think it's more that they finally got full support in training and that allows them to be the best that they can be.

I'm still amazed that Dasaolu has run so fast.. I think that he always gets injured shows more that he doesn't have 'extra help' which would allow perfect recovery every time (and no injuries). He also came to sprinting very late by modern standards. I can't imagine Dasaolu beating Greene's 6.39 though?! But 6.45 and better puts him ahead of a hell of a lot of elite athletes.

Kilty did very well to be consistently 0.12 and PB in the semi and final.. talk about big game mentality! Imagine if he was picked for 2013 WCs or 2012 Olympics..

Transition. Kept his head down in drive phase too long, like he was actually racing 100, while RK came up and got up to speed quicker. The race was won between 5 and 15 meters from the blocks. Unless you're Mo Greene, it's very difficult to run someone down in a 60.

It could be, of course, that Bracy really IS training for 100 and just used indoors as a accel/max velocity phase.

But keep in mind that Bracy ran 6.48 at altitude and WIC was won in 6.49. RK might be slightly faster as are a couple of others. 6.48 is awfully fast for someone who is effectively a college sophomore.

Picked in which distance ? Last time I checked he was not ranked in top 6, in the UK in the 100m in 2012 or in 2013 before any of the big meets.

In the 200m, he had an A standard but so did 5 other sprinters (who were all very close) and unfortunately he finished last in the final of this event at UK oly trials.

In 2013 he could have been picked in the 200m but UKA gamble by taking Gemili and D.Williams (who are both younger and with superior PB)

Bracy is apparently quite short (height ?) and taylored for indoors. I wouldn't gamble on him doing big thing in the 100m .

Stride length is almost entirely dependent on speed with only minor variation at the most extremes (ie two guys that run the same time, but have a 7-8" difference in inseam). A 6'4" guy that runs 11.0 probably has shorter strides than a 5'10" guy that runs 10.0.
