This is a no brainer. The college graduate making $35,000 a year in 2014 has it much better than a 16th century English King. The normal things that we take for granted today were not even invented in the 16th century. And no amount pampering and servants can make up for it.

and if that's to be believed, the king was probably happier. Also the king doesn't know about all that computer stuff he's missing, like we don't know about the "experience machine" or whatever the next thing will be.
The big downside is health. Average American probably has a much lower chance of dying of "the cough" or something stupid.

The ol' "Ignorance is Bliss" saying comes to mind... and, what probably shouldn't be surprising, is that half of the people on here would prefer ignorance just so that they could THINK they are better off than they are.
