4:28 - 4:10 = 18 seconds. Seems like a reasonable conversion for mile/1500. But please, by all means, separate the fly shit from the pepper.

do you know anything about scouting athletes from a coaching and recruiting perspective?

you scrutinize every aspect of the instrument that will be waging war for you. a perfect xc body is a perfect XC body--the focus is on XC. the "creepy" stuff you were thinking about isn't part of the equation. maybe you're some high school chick who isn't even aware that coaches analyze various aspects of female athlete's bodies, from an athletic viewpoint, because that is part of how you determine where an athlete best fits and how much talent the individual has. so, yes, coaches and recruiters look closely at a female runners hips, legs, arms, etc when she is running; that's a big part of how you judge athletic talent. it's an athletic meat market--just like the nfl evaluation process. run coaches who only look at results sheets and do a meet & greet are destined to be losers. you have to find out the details of an athlete's future potential, and that involves seeing if the athlete's body fits your profile for future success.

half the girls who become ncaa xc all-americans were not among the elite in high school; they were diamonds in the rough; girls with an high athletic ceiling that was not highly developed in high school. a good, college coach will be able to identify some of these girls, and he/she will do this, in part, by scrutinizing her running body and its potential. so, get used to the meat market; and don't think it's pervy. there's a lot of nuts-n-bolts and science involved.
