Jordan Hasay 8:46.89 3K PR in London

The fact is that Salazar can develop her kick over a significant amount of time--it took him at least five years to do it for rupp but he succeeded--and she has improved quite a lot at 3k, which should eventually translate upward. 8:46 is a solid time. Let's say that in a year she runs 8:36. Then she will have a very good chance to run sub 31. If she ever gets close to Shalane's American record, she will have a shot at a medal at some point. But right now she is 2:16 behind the wr at 10k.

She's a very appealing person. I like her. I want her to do well. But, in my opinion, there's no reason to believe that she's ever going to run sub 30:30, which is what it's going to take to be a medalist. She's been very serious about running for far too long to think that she might be able to improve by more than a minute at 10,000 at this point.

But, maybe it will turn out that every woman who has ever broken 31:30 is dirty and, in early 2016, they all get busted. Then, Jordan has a chance.

A few thoughts:

Anyone who can qualify or compete at the World level is "world-class". She is going to the World Championships, therefore she is world class. You don't need to be in the top 3 people out of 6 billion right now to be world class. More like the top 50 or 100.

Re: the race: I did not see it, but after reading all these comments, I read the results. Your opinion is valid because you thought she had "Probably the most impressive performance in the race" and that is subjective.

However, you do see that THREE Americans beat her decisively, ONE Canadian beat her as well, and THREE more (much less celebrated) Americans all finished within 5 seconds of her.

I think her 8:46 is very impressive, but I don't think this was the best performance of the race, or something to jump up and down about.

Jordan will bust 31:30 her next race. And contrary to the "dirty" pathetic weakling mental rejects on this board (who think because someone does good they're taking drugs), Jordan will do it clean! Some of you people need to wise up! Please.

I take serious offense to that statement.

After this season, marketability will hinge heavily on a drug-free image. On that score, Jordan surpasses all.

Also, I see her move to train with AlSal is excellent; she has always reminded me of young Rupp, who had the stamina, but couldn't close well enough to be a world-beater. In a few years we could see some great things from this kid.

On the right course I see her taking down Kara Goucher's Women's Half Marathon USA record someday.

Bustinit is right on. Anytime someone is running well, the letsrun posters are the first to claim drugs are involved. The criticism is particularly heavy on Salazar's group. It would be rather refreshing if some of you all would consider that maybe some hard work is involved?

AlSal already has her working with one of the SoCal sprint gurus. I'm sure her finish with improve considerably over the next couple of years. Rupp didn't used to have a finishing kick either.
