Ummm, are you proposing the running turn into baseball? Brawls, melees, and blocking a runner's path? Basically, a hockey style free-for-all. Rupp would have every right to push runners ahead of him out of "his" way. Yup, that will go over real swell.

I've watch zillions of ld races over my life and respect the athletes who speak up for themselves, either with a hand, an elbow, or words.
Other than Lagat, Rupp has more experience in racing than anyone else in that race, and if Mead or anyone else was getting sloppy, it is actually to the safety of all the runners to tell each other "cool it."
The thing is, idiots like you, Rupp could run the perfect race, and you dooshbags would still find something to be negative about.
Rupp should be more like Solinsky. He should just drop out of the race when he gets bumped.

Rupp turned around and said a couple of words in a 1-2 second section of a race. Maybe not in a race, but I would guarantee everyone posting on this thread has over-reacted to something in their life, particularly if it was something that caught them off guard and in the heat of the moment. Anyone that watches a lot of track races has seen competitors jawing or pushing mid-race in crowded fields. Anyone that watches sports in general has seen similar incidents all the time in other sports. I have no idea how this is getting turned into some big issue where Rupp's character and ethics are being questioned. It was a very short emotional reaction to something in the middle of a high stress environment. You guys have really never over-reacted to something similar in your lives?
Who would I be if I did not inject race into this
1) Rupp makes a hasty move
2) Rupp is clipped by you know whom
3) Rupp turns perp for a few seconds
4) Rupp turns attention and blames the nearby darkie for longer than he blamed the actual perp
5) History of the world in a very few seconds of that race

Rupp was not clipped. Rupp rear ended another runner. The front runner has the right-of-way, to someone behind, like Rupp.

Who was he even saying "cool it" to? A guy that RUPP flagrantly ran into. He's so coddled and used to total deference that he is actually CLUELESS running in a pack (which is why he has a habit of falling in Diamond League races and not having the guts to get back up). Mead, True or anyone else in that race conduct themselves far more safely than Rupp, weaving around like a panicked chicken because BIG DADDY Lagat is owning the race.
Rupp was the sloppy one, in his racing and in his conduct. A good coach wouldn't let a 12 year-old act like that.
