Solinsky already had a hamstring injury but the actual separation occurred when he tripped over his dog.

So, here's Webb's last few months in a nutshell: He increased his volume over the winter originally intending to take a shot at running the 5,000 at US Outdoors, but when he increased his mileage he had a minor injury that originally was thought to possibly be a stress fracture. He got past that and was training again but was running longer workouts that weren't 1500/mile oriented stuff.

He then ran a couple of 5,000 races, a 13:37 and a 13:46, and didn't achieve the A standard. He then thought that if he could do some sharpening stuff that his best chance was to get the 1500 qualifier and try for that at USATF Nationals. The standard was 3:41.20 and he ran 3:42.88.

Considering that about 6 weeks ago he hadn't done anything over 300 meters at 60 second 400 meter pace he's made some big improvements.

He's running at the Harry Jerome Invitational in a couple of weeks.I think that we'll see another decent improvement from him.

How has Hall improved year to year more than Webb? How did Hall do in the 2012 Olympic marathon? How many 1st places or American records has he won?

Regarding Ritz, hasn't he only been marginally better than Webb? What has he done since high school every year? Had 1 or 2 good seasons?

We all watched that Flotrack video when he broke the mile record... We all cheered for him... I am a Webb fan and I never liked laughing at him.. But he is so done, poor guy..

Of course the whole thing is a ploy, his career, Rupp's career, Salazar's coaching career. One giant ploy about to pay off. Just prepping for USA's that's all.

And did it occur to anyone that the OP might be being sarcastic?

Thanks for the update Nikeman. I was wondering why he was running 1500's now when the goal was the 5k. My negativity on him is that I wish he would run well, but every year its this and that the other - its getting hard to watch. I'll cut him some slack, but I'm still skeptical.

Will he petition to get into the Trials and in what event? Will they allow his petition?

Should Webb just hang it up and become an Agent? I mean hell he has tricked Nike into paying him for this long he could easily trick other shoe companies into signing runners that will burn out early.

he's improving and he'll run 3:38/39 the next time out. The question is whether he'll keep at it and run 3:35 this year. Do not rule that out if he continues through the European season. But things would be quite different from the last five years if he ran better than that. You have to think that anyone of great talent running for Schumacher with that fantastic group AND staying healthy should get back to close to what he did beforehand.

No way he runs 3:35 this year.

European meets? Dude, he can't even qualify for USA's and is finishing near last in below average national level type races.

I've seen Webb race in person this year. He doesn't look good when he runs. No power to his stride and doesn't look healthy.

Go watch some of his best races. He's MUCH more muscular and has a powerful stride. The super lean distance runner body type doesn't work for him.

Wow!! Do you even realize that you are talking about a 16 year old girl?!? Next time you should have the integrity to stand behind your comment and let people know who you are. I have seen Mary run since she was in 7th grade. She didn't even run cross country until 9th grade because she was focused on field hockey. The first time she stepped onto the track she was a beast. She won our Spring County meet in the 3K over all state cross country runners with a field hockey base as a 7th grader. It has been truly amazing to watch her progress over the last 5 years. It has been discouraging to read many of the comments on this site. I thought trackies were supposed to be smart people. This must be where all the ignorant cowards come to post because I haven't seen one accusatory comment where the poster had the stones to leave their name. Now let the ignorant flaming(that is what you kids call it these days I believe) of my post begin......

And to expand on that, because some of you may have not seen his races, Webb has never been in contention in ANY of his races. In every single 1500 I've seen him run this season he's been absolutely dropped by the field.

It's not like he's running 3:42 or 3:45 and winning the race.

Again, making the likely hood of him going to Europe very, very, very low.

Yes, actually. Lots of Americans you've never even heard of go to Europe every year who are even slower than that. The track options in the US are very limited, which is why so many of them go to the base camps in Belgium and run from there.

Add to that the fact that his entire training group will be out there as well, so he just has to go with them.

As I recall, he went a couple years ago with the Salazar group, even though he was only in shape to run 1:51 and later 3:42. His teammates were out there running bigger meets while he ran some of the B- and C-level races as he got back in shape.

So run that mental check through your head before you assume he'll stay home and sulk in the USA all summer.
