Keep in mind, my only question is why people talk of "thyroid medication" abuse, and "TUE" abuse as if they are the same thing. Maybe Salazar/Rupp/Farah are abusing TUEs too, but these are independent concerns -- they are not the same thing. The Jos Hermans "google translate" quote is so butchered, it's hard to say if he really saw something, or if it's pure speculation. He's "just questioning if ..." sounds like pure imagination to me.But that doesn't matter. Taking it required no disclosure, and no permission from anti-doping authorities.”You don't need any certificate for thyroid medication, because it is not banned, and doesn't require a TUE.

If for nothing else, the Salazar-Rupp combo have brought a new training model into the minds of US runners. They have re-defined what it means to take a "long-term" approach to an athlete's career - and the results have been remarkable. And, now, with Mary, there's the possibility that we'll get to see it again. The young monster-talents and master-coaches of this country should all be trying to scale the Salazar-Rupp model.

There's just so much to learn from studying Rupp's career. Imagine what would have happened if Salazar had been Webb's high school coach, not Razcko. Would Alan have run 3:53 in HS? Probably not. But could he have medaled in the a WC / Olympics at 1500 or 5K - and walked away after a nice long career PRs of 3:30 and 12:50? I would bet on it.

For sure, Rupp's improvement curve has been unnatural enough to warrant speculation. It reminds me of the Bernie Madoff school of cheating - nothing flashy, just unnaturally consistent return on investment. That's what I think we're seeing with Galen...cheating or grey-areaing just enough to be able to get an unusually consistent return on his effort. And while I hope I'm wrong, even if I'm not...the importance of Rupp's career is that he's proved how the most talented American's can compete with Africans, and showed that a long-term approach is the way to do it.

Let's put the pieces together again, Hermens asked Salazar to let the Bekele's join NOP, Alberto discussed it with Galen and Galen said "wait, these are the guys we are trying to beat, right?"

And, as the NOP team works, they vote on admitted new members.

Hermens, if you read his history, is very emotional.

Even if the google translate ain't great, let's consider that, like always in life, sometimes there is more than meets the eye, or ear, in a situation, other than what's reported in one moment.

Your first two paragraphs are about right.

Your third paragraph sadly shows the damage of an anonymous board like this, you've been too easily influence by the lies and libel towards Rupp that you start to believe it and spread them yourself.

A Duck, your act is well past its due date. You complain about Alberto, Rupp and anything Nike being smeared, yet you post gratuitous smears about everyone else on here at the same time. You try to characterize any and everyone who dare says anything unflattering about all things Nike as "sore losers", "sour grapes" etc.

You have zero credibility at all.

Jos Hermans tried to get hormone therapy banned two years before the Olympics because he knew body builders, cyclists, and track athletes were using it as a PED. It will eventually be banned, and all of the athletes currently using it will have their career reputations tarnished.

Rupp, in addition to taking the currently legal hormone medications, has a laundry list of medications that require a TUE because they too are performance enhancing drugs. He has exemptions for asthma and allergy medications. Plus, when dealing with hormonal issues, one must take a range of drugs because once you treat one issue other issues arise. Some of those drugs could possibly be on the banned list.

Salazar does not understand the long-term consequences of using these drugs. He ruined his own health by playing Russian Roulette with his body (over-training supported with medications), and he is taking others down that same path.

Considering the long-term health of his athletes, their reputations, and ethical considerations are Salazar's weaknesses as a coach.
