Is Blake Griffin strong?
Of course he's strong for a human being, but relative to other PFs, I havent heard. Some guys are notorious in the weight room despite what they look like. Warren Sapp was a big blob but was as quick as they come and off the charts strong. One of my friends brother is an assistant coach for an NBA team and is very much involved in strength and conditioning. He says some guys come into the league not being able to bench 225. Others are freaks
wilt would obliterate
why are people so clueless about him and relying on only his early years/college/high school as for what his real weight was as if that was his perpetual weight for his entire career?
do some research people
Wes Unseld has got to be in the mix. The man was a sheer brute.

After watching these youtube clips where people fawn over Chamberlain's strength and have all these stories of him people picking up...and also seeing lots of game footage...I have to ask why none of these feats of strength are captured on film? All the game footage I'm seeing is him dominating a bunch of white guys, nothing crazy that the people in the videos are describing as having happened during a game.
the nba was not a big sport in chamberlain's day. espn didn't exist. there was no one to video chamberlain's 100 point game.
think of it this way. where is all the video footage for tracks meets of long ago? was every part of every race, and every single jump captured on film? even today, is a track meet is every part of the meet filmed?
There is no way Wilt benched 550 lbs or whatever. I have a buddy that is a pro bench presser (yeah that is a real thing) and I have watched him lift before. 550 is an insane amount of weight, and having short arms is a must. Wilt the Stilt had a huge wingspan. Just one more part of his mythology.
yes, because your butt-y can't do it, no one can do it. sure thing, dude.
Some of the things that have been said are at least possible (people have benched 550) but the 55 inch vert is just stupid. The highest vert ever recorded (vert, not max vert) was Gerald Sensabaugh at 46 inches. To have a vertical 9 inches higher than the highest one ever recorded would be like someone saying they could have high jumped 8'10".
Yes, the Wilt stories have become legendary in their exaggeration.
Believe it or not many in the NBA knew that Jason Williams (PF for the Nets) had unnatural strength. He was videod curling the 135 bench press bar w/one arm. He was not a huge guy, or super defined.
Shaq....really? Here's a video of a doughy Charles Barkley out-benching Shaq...

Barkely does 405..
LOL, just realized the above was a fake! DUH.
Wilt was very good. Different era though. There are many supreme athletes in the NBA now. Watching an NBA game it can be difficult at times to recognize this. They tend to cancel out each other and not stand out.
