Why is Rolling Rock the best beer of all time?!

I just watched a documentary, "Beer Wars", and Rolling Rock is owned by Anheuser-Busch, and now merged with nBev.

Also in the documentary, once Rolling Rock was sold, they shut down their original brewery, and it's made at one of Anheuser-Busch's brewery, so it's not small brewery anymore.

That was long ago. There are a ton of good beers being brewed in America these days. You may have to go looking for them but they are definitely there.

I remember reading this thread long time ago, and I was at 7-11 today looking for some beer to buy. Rolling rock caught my eyes so I decided to get it. My god, this beer is awful! Never again, can I trust letsrun.

Another vote for Leinenkugle, but Point may have been better.

I did not know this. I enjoyed quite a few Rolling Rock waaaay back before a buyout. And then I discovered Yeungleng. (or however that's spelled.) And then I mostly stopped drinking beer.

I still can't believe Inbev are dropping Budwieser for "america." Do they own Budvar too?

It is, however, cheap as f*ck. Out here in Berkeley, Grocery Outlet is currently selling 25oz tallboy cans for $1.29. Brewed 30 miles away at the enormous AB brewery in Fairfield.

That works out to $3.72 per six pack. County sales tax is 9.5%. CA deposit is a dime a can. A fifteen can flat is about $23 all told

Am drinking one as I type this. Am I enjoying it? Hard to say. One of its virtues is its inoffensiveness. Can drink it all day without gagging.

I grew up in central PA so I had an education in local brewing. Dad and Mom were cheap so Yuengling was considered a luxury. We mostly had Rolling Rock - great refresher for when you are cutting firewood, Genessee, and Iron City. Iron City was the bomb back in the 1970s with their Steelers theme cans. I toured the Latrobe Brewery just before they sold out. They had a good seasonal lager called Loyalhanna which I think has been phased out. Even the monks at St. Vincent College in Latrobe keep a couple beers on tap all day long. Ran the Rolling Rock 5 Miler - man was that a tough course in hot weather. Those were the days.

No, it just means that "dont quite remember" has tasted beer outside of the narrow American Lager genre of beers.
