Boxers use EPO along with other drugs to enhance their performance so I would say it could be possible that he did a distance run at 5:45 pace.
Boxing's drug testing is an absolute joke.

I'd be surprised if he could go sub9 but I wouldn't rule it out. 31 for 10k seems pretty reasonable and I wouldn't be surprised at all. Someone of his talent and conditioning is in a whole different league from most people.
I wonder how many people on this board think they could run 94 feet faster than Charles Barkley right now?
Alright so I am about as fast at the 1500 as the guy you just mentioned. I would probably do 10x400 w/ 1:00 rest in 64-65. No way in hell is a 3:55 guy doing 10x400 with 60 rest in 59 seconds. I'm sure other 3:55 type guys can vouch for
Your either running that 1500m off great speed and your endurance is shot in a session such as that, or your endurance is superb but you just dont have the speed to knock out fast paced reps. I'm an example of the former, I get away with having a fast 400m. I have a training partner who is very slow around 52 seconds for 400m, he destroys me over 2km reps but still doesn't touch me in the 10x400m session. An athlete can most definately knock out 12x400m in 58seconds and still be a high 3:4x guy if they have no speed. I run 10x400m now in 59 seconds and could probably bang out the extra two and I only run 3:49. I highly doubt the boxer would have the speed to beat me, but it most certainly isn't the times that centrowitz could do for such a session. I've seen written examples of elite milers running 10x400m w/45seconds rec in 54/55, whether they are embellishing i dont know.
I may not outrun Barkley, but I can swing a golf club better than he can. LOL
Why would floyd even want to do athletics. He gets 40mil a fight, is famous, well respected. On the flip side he could train his ass off to run at some european meet for afew thousand dollars run a 13min 5km, noone in america knows who you are, you earn about 50,000k per year and you get no respect.
Running. Woooo!
I bet floyd beats everyone on letsrun in a 2mile race.
Why is it always a runner than can't run the time the "insert physical sport" is said to have run.
What makes you get so upset knowing Mayweather can crush you in a 2 mile or a 10k?
Runners are a sensitive bunch. Boxers don't make millions for nothing. The best athletes usually go to where the $ are. It's the reason Usain Bolt has no reason to step up to the 400m. Mainly sprinters earn the big bucks in track. Alot of the best MD runners are potentially filtered into soccer/football, boxing etc because it pays a whole lot more dollars and respect.

Sad but true.
Runners are a sensitive bunch but Floyd running sub 9 for 2 miles is still a joke.
Yes, he does what we would call tempo runs of 5 to 8 miles at a fast pace - sometimes sub 6 pace. Add in all the other exercises you want and you are still a far cry from a sub 9.
Julio Cesar Chavez was known for doing 10 mile runs in 60 minutes at altitude outside Mexico City, Roberto Duran was known for doing the same.
Holyfield, years ago on the wide world of sports, ran a 2:10 for 800 meters. I believe this was shortly after he moved to heavyweight, but before he won the title. Carl Lewis was on the same show and Holyfield beat him, but I don't recall by how much.
i know a lightwieght boxer that has had a world title fight. at his absolute fittest he could not run sub 6mm for 5 miles. he also ran for a club when he was younger. boxers dont do their runs at high intensity. thats why they usually run at 5am. then the intensive training is in the gym and on the bag. why would you flog yourself on the run if you then had another 1/2 sessions to do that day. it wouldnt make sense. also how often do you hear of boxers pulling out of fights with what could be perceived as running injuries? its usually broken hands etc not achilles injuries or pf. i very much doubt any of them at elite level even know if they are any good at running as i dont think they will have ever really tested themselves. easy 5 mile jog in the morning to get loose then hit the gym. they may do the odd track session but they will be be more aimed at explosive power. similarly soccer players used to do a lot of long slow running and that has all changed to fast explosive stuff as thats how football games are. short high intensity bursts.
when I was in sixth grade, the teacher played a game where she would whisper a sentence to the first student who repeat whispered that same sentence to the next student till it got all the way around the room. By the time it finished the last student would say the sentence out loud and it was way different than the original sentence. Without the whispering, that is what happenned here.
Mayweather does a track workout. Maybe he does 8X400 and < 70 per or he does a 2-miler in under 11 minutes or something, say 10:45. Based on a conversation he or his coach has, it's stated that if he ran it a the beginning of his workout he would surely be capable of being under 10 (but instead of saying "breaking 10" the person says "breaking 9" really meaning that he was breaking into the 9s but the other person misinterprets that he actually BROKE 9 for a 2-mile). See how rumors get started.
And as far as people buying into this, c'mon.
I would bet on Floyd being fast. He's obviously gifted & takes great care of himself, which includes running, skipping rope & staying trim. This translates to a good runner.

I would too. I bet he can run 2 miles under 11 but not under 9.
Example of Ben St Lawrence 10x400 training.
13:10 5 k guy
Nick Symmonds is 5'10" and 165. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is 5'8" and 145-50. Boxers do not lift heavy weights. Many do not lift any weights. They want to balance power with speed and endurance. Running is a big part of their training.
I do not believe the OP, but do believe that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is probably surprisingly fast when it comes to running. Victor Ortiz ran the LA marathon in 3:27 while he was fighting professionally. Victor is about an inch taller and 10 lbs heavier than Mayweather.

Eventually someone will twist this around that Ortiz or maybe just make it Mayweather ran not 3:27 but 2:27. That is how these things work.
I bet he can run 2mi, faster than he can read a page of Harry Potter!
evidence of training pace. Extrapolate as you wish.
He ran 8 something for 2 km's.
