Maybe it had to do with INCREASING MILEAGE?
This is interesting, because I want help as a HS track coach. I am young, and I wasnt elite in HS. But this past year I coached a freshmen to a very fast year. Finished w a 17:06 5k, 4:31 mile, and 1:59 half.
Kid is an athlete, question is.... How to improve?

Soph: 5:40 (started training, 10-15 mpw)
Junior: 4:59 (20-30 mpw summer base, no base in track due to shin splints)
Senior: Under 4:30?
FR: 5:05/10:33
SO: 4:48/9:48
JR: 4:27/9:35
SR: 4:18/9:12
