I'll admit I was a Rupp skeptic, but in the absence of a blow-it-out 62 per lap from the gun type of race, he stands as good a chance as anyone. And I find it hard to believe someone is going to 'take one for the team' and do that.
Agree. Everyone is going to be focused on Farah and how to possibly beat him. The problem for them is that for everyone except possibly Gebremeskel, Farah can likely beat in a time trial like race, and can beat everyone except maybe Lagat in a kick. How do you run away from someone you know is faster than you? Or if you're Gerbremeskel, do you want to lead half the race? This is what lead to the seemingly bizzare tactics in the 10k: you can't pick a strategy to beat someone better than you in every situation. This leads to everyone sitting there doing nothing, afraid to lead. The Ethiopians may use team tactics for a fast race, but clearly someone will need to sacrifice themselves to do that, and getting someone to do that is easier said than done. When you really see someone push the pace for a long drive at the end successfully, usually they are the best runner in the field (eg El G) that doesn't want it to come down to a kick, not someone who is slower than the top runner in the race. Unless someone in the race has yet to show their potential, I'm guessing it won't be all that fast at the end.
You guys dont give Lagat enough credit. The only reason he lost to Rupp at the trials was because he fought the wind for half of the race trying to reach the breakaway. He was going for top 3, winning was a 2nd thought. Don't forget, Lagat is one of the best tacticians of all time and you would be crazy to leave him out of the medals.
I say Farah will win it, and Rupp will barely nip Lagat in the last 50 for silver and bronze. Could go either way though. Gebremeskel will be fourth.

I can't believe the Kenyans who were usually outkicked by the Ethiopians will let the race go slow past one lap. Especially after they saw what Mo and Rupp did in that 10,000. Or maybe they just don't have the guns this year.
Remember Worlds in 2001 when Sammy Kepketir took it out in 59 to help Kamathi beat Geb? This is their only chance, a 13:00 race. A 13:25 race will just play into the kickers hands.
