This is ridiculous. Felix already has an Olympic spot in the 200m. Just give the 100m spot to Tarmoh. She's your friend and training partner. After the race, Tarmoh thought she was an Olympian. Now you're going to try to take that away from her? Absolutely classless. Felix is being completely greedy and selfish. No respect for her whatsoever anymore. I hope she gets knocked out in the first round at the Olympic 200m and that Jamaica sweeps 1,2,3.

Translation: I have never accomplished anything of note in anything I have ever competed in. I was lucky to maybe race 1 varsity race my whole high school career. My views on competition in no way correspond to how an elite athelte views competition. My viewpoint should be completely ignored.

I do kind of wish Allyson had run the 4 and the 2 instead of the 2 and the 1. She'd have much more of a chance to medal in two events if she participated in the former. Although I'd imagine running the heats of the 400m is a lot more taxing on the body than running the heats of the 100m.
Wrong. The 200m time is a direct result of good periodization. The 100m work is the reason her 200m is so fast. If she were to do the 2 and 4 I doubt she could win the 200 which is most important to her. Also the idiots saying she should drop the 100m... Clearly you have never been at any decent level in sport. An elite athlete always backs themselves. If she didnt no one would be having this conversation because we wouldnt know who she is.
didn't you see her try the 200/400 at worlds? didn't you see how much of a disaster that was? and further there is no way she can beat sanya in the 400M.
it is not about just winning a medal. it is about winning gold at 200M at the OG
She's clearly benefited in the 200m from training for and running the 100m, and if running the 100m first were really a handicap, then why did she run what was easily her best ever 200m AFTER the 100m? And if fresh legs were so beneficial, why didn't she run better in the 100m prior to running any other events? She's a competitor and has a sense of history. She cannot just give up the 100m spot.

If Felix didn't want to run the 100 @ London, then she wouldn't run in at the trails, she's a competitor and naturally doesn't want to f/cking lose.

are you really asking this? do you guys know anything about running except for the marathon and all those boring long winded races?
felix does not have the raw foot speed nor the reaction time to be successful in the 100M. She is more suited to medium distance sprinting hence the reason why she is so good at the 200M.
if she wastes time and energy running the 100M, this will cut into her performance at the 200M. The one medal that she claims she must win in order to stop feeling like a loser. if it is so important then focus on it and by all meants run the 100/200 at next olympics if you want to.
she has no chance of medalling in the 100M so why risk wasting valuable resources to run 4th or 5th?
Didn't Veronica Campbell-Brown win the last two Olympic gold medals in the 200m after running in the heats of the 100m? If Veronica can do it then certainly Allyson can who doesn't expend as much energy when she runs and has much better technique in the 200m.
Felix has every right to vie for that 100 meter slot, but I do think she missed out on a chance to do something far classier and memorable, which would be to give the spot to her teammate Tarboh. There is a time and a place for self interest and ambition, and in this case, given Felix is already going in, what, three events? (Please correct me if I'm wrong). She has a great shot at gold in the 200m, but very little chance at a medal at all in the 100m. I think she should be happy for what she's accomplished, and focus on that 200, and give her teammate the chance to shine a bit too.
Now with THAT all said...there is one outside possibility worth considering...I think there is an outside chance Felix might make a gesture on the track by easing for Tarboh at the line, much as what happened in the Men's decathlon.
THAT would be uber-classy.
