At the College of Southern Idaho he was all-American in both track and cross country. He clocked a 3:57 mile, a 14-minute 5K and a sub-29 10K. In the 2007 Top of Utah Marathon in Logan he ran 2:16:39, at altitude no less, to qualify for the Olympic Trials.
Funny how College of Southern Idaho doesn't have a track team (perhaps they used to), and track and field news doesn't have him on their list of all-time sub 4s.

I'm not sure when Southern Idaho lost their program but the head coach of Weber State used to coach there and one of their assistant coaches ran there before he transferred to Weber State.

Hey, I'm trying to understand other people because I tend to be somewhat antisocial and don't understand well how other people work.
Why do you all get pleasure out of saying this guy can't do it? I mean, I would have thought the article would just be ignored, but instead it is the most popular on here at the moment.
It's kind of like the neutrino thing (where eventually a loose cable was found to be the culprit). Everyone and their grandma jumped in on the story saying "there's no way neutrinos went faster than light". Seriously, what do you gain by this? Are we supposed to think you're intelligent, thought-provoking, superior? Does saying "no" or "that guy's an idiot" release some sort of endorphin rush in your brain that doesn't happen for me?
Someone explain it to me, because I don't get it.

Except that there is no way for you to know this for sure. Yet you call him crazy with certainty. That's what's most interesting to me.
I have no idea what this guy's potential is. But neither do you.

Much easier to just say "prove it". And, point out that it certainly doesn't take $80,000 to get by on a shoestring budget to train 100% for a year or two.

If you want to believe every exaggerated claim being made people go ahead. There are those that are more reality based and sensible. This guy makes professional runners look like clowns that don't know what they are doing.
If he can run sub 2 on 2 years of training why are all these slow Kenyans running a measly 2:03 - 04? His is the mindset of delusion, not confidence. There is a difference.
this chode should let his times do the talking. If you think it is reasonable to make these types of claims, you may be a chode.

There is a fine line between the dedication it takes to win at the elite level and arrogance (or ego, if you prefer). He may think he can run sub 2:00, but speaking it means either he's crossed the line or doesn't know what he's talking about.
What is there to discuss? Any idiot can say anything. I don't even really believe that he actually ran a 2:16 marathon. If he did, he wouldn't say anything so incredibly stupid.
My friend went from a 3:00 to a 2:30 in 2 years. So obviously in 2 more years......

I thought this name sounded familiar. His actual name is Holbrook Call (although in all the results from high school it is listed as Call Holbrook, so I always thought that was his name). He ran at Star Valley HS in Wyoming Class 3A, the second biggest class and graduated in 1995.
For all his "easy" wins in HS, he only the 1600 and 3200 his senior year. The 3200 was easy, winning by 20+ seconds, but his 1600 was by 1 second. Oh, and no XC titles. Although, I think SVHS did not have XC since they were more concerned about only FB.
Never remember hearing anything about him in college, and I definitely would have noticed if a Wyoming native had run sub-4:00 in the mile. I would love to see proof, as long it is not on a downhill road course.
He was a tough runner, but nothing great, even by Wyoming standards.
