Is it me or did Scherer look kind of flabby? Maybe it was just a really unflattering shirt he was wearing.
Running in front of Rudisha he looked flabby. I think he did a good job though.
Scherer is just a Hulk. Probably the biggest guy ever on the MD circuit. Funny, his 400 PR is very close to Rudisha's, but his 800 is over five seconds slower (20.89 for 200 though!)

Scherer set his 400 PR when he peaked for it specifically.. Rudisha's 400 PR's were run as speed workouts in the beginning of the season. I'm sure if you get Rudisha to run a full 400 at the end of the season at his peak, he can run 44-low, and split sub 44 on the 4x4.
Do we just give him the gold now or wait out the formality of it all. Is there anyone who can do what he did yesterday? Sick.

Andrews ran essentially a perfect race. That's just how good he is.

And to addd to the f up, the network decided to waste 5 secconds or so of footage on Kaki dropping out instead of showing Rudisha run the 9TH FASTEST 800 EVER and THE FAsTEST 800 ON US SOIL. Never mind the leader, let's focus on the dropout. Argh! What are you gonna do? Sprint focused morons who don't undestand mid-d track and the enormity of what went down yesterday. At least we got to see it.

Rudisha's form is a beautiful thing to watch, nearly perfect. His arms were a little floppy in the final 40 or so, but it's good to know something can be improved! He definitely seems to be on track to break 1:41 this summer.
Rudisha was incredible and does not look at all like he is struggling to run 1:41.7. I will be shocked if he does not break 1:41 this year, assuming he's healthy. If the telecast turned from him for 5 seconds, the NY Times was worse in its report on the race today. On its front sports page it had a teaser for the meet, about Pistorius, and then the article itself was half about Pistorius, with only a one sentence mention of Rudisha in the notes at the end. Talk about having no conception whatsoever of the relative significance of different performances in the meet.
Just wait until Rudisha gets out in 48.low this year, which is probably ideal for him when he's in peak fitness. I don't know how he trains, but I would assume his 45.5ish 400s run in early seasons this year and last would be bested when he's in peak 800 shape. I would expect sub 45 open ability from him at the games. So at that point he should be able to go out in 48.0 and run the second lap just as fast as he did today which would give him a 1:40.x... crazy.
Andrews is looking good. Clearly has focused more on strength this year which bodes well for the rest of the summer. I don't think he'll have a problem making the Olympic team as he was cautious on the pace in New York and is likely in sub 1:44.5 shape. Not to mention he is a great closer. Needs to keep himself in the race at the trials though. Lots of guys who have broken 1:45.

I completely agree. Rudisha is my favorite runner in the world right now. He just absolutely kills it every time and is just a straight bamf on the track. This year is becoming more and more interesting with every meet.
100 - Bolt and Blake rivalry + Gay coming back
200 - same as above
400 - Merritt vs James
800 - Rudisha going for Olympic gold and world record
1,500 - Kiprop vs Kiplagat
5,000 - Galen Rupp getting better, Bekele returning to form, and Farah vs Lagat
10,000 - Seeing if Rupp can medal + Bekele going for his 3rd 10k gold
110H - Always insanely competitive

I know it's un-PC, but Pistorius is a freak show. He doesn't deserve to compete in the same meet as Rudisha. At least guys like Dean K don't perform their tricks on the same stage as elite athletes.
