except that then you wouldn't be able to go out and do 15/15 the next day because 35 straight would beat you down too much.

105 between my junior and senior year of high school. Of course it was probably less. High schoolers tend to overestimate mileage.

What are you up to. Training for a marathon?

Naw...just putting in the miles and getting ready to start racing. I need to come back to the Springs soon. How have you been?
Matt
80. But my goal this summer is to do 100 miles. Lets Get Screaming.

Malmo, didn't you guys (as Athletics West)typically run a 30-31 miler in prep for an upcoming marathon competition?

Not me, Mike, I ran 1500/steeple.
151 one week (january)
5371 one year (last year)
168 ... no slo-go
Had several college teammates run more ... and one guy ran 200+ for several (4?) weeks in a row.
This was:
before LCD, 300 mile shoe limits, mondo, FAT, 8 million shoe brands to choose from, Waldrop, AW and AW, ... and and
but pretty close to: blood doping, waffles, actual dual-tri-quad meets, nearly weekly coverage of T&F on WWS, Bair, Ryun, Keino, Lindgren, Pre, ... and and
and after Igloi, Tabori, Grelle, Lash, O'Hara, Van Nelson, Burleson, Santee, Bowden, Story, Beatty, Truex, Larrieu, Mills, Schul, ... and and
and I don't think anywhere near Corbitt's weekly (well maybe our 220+/- guy - and yes it yielded commensurate dividends, and no I wouldn't recommend for most~vast majority) sorry - got carried away :]
Hey Sciandra,
When are you planning to race again? I grew up in the same neck of the woods as you (although you prob. don't know me) and have seen some of you marathon times. Pretty good stuff. Keep it up.
Malmo,
Give me a typical day of your training in those days. I'm interested in your eating habits. Was this your day?:
Wake up
Run 15.5 miles moderate
Shower
Eat breakfast (bowl of cereal and some toast)
Go to work
Eat lunch (PB&J sandwich & water)
Snack (apple)
Run 12.5 miles moderate
Shower
Eat dinner (hamburgers or pasta)
Watch TV, read T&FN
Sleep
or how was it like?
Thanks.
Higest was 118.
Don't have the log right with me to know for sure, but from memory there was one cross country race (about 12K), and two tempo run/progression run type workouts.

Soup.
I have heard that question before. I don't know.
Most of my training runs & track workouts were with or were based on the guys I TRIED to train with or read about, who were far beyond my ability. I was trying to get down to 7-flat pace, it was that which clobbered me regularly. I used to get a LOT of colds, flu's and bronchial issues especially in fall and winter. (My record was FIVE bugs in one winter!) A lot of group runs were near-race level efforts. I suspect that whacked my immune system.
I had some good spurts, especially early in races where I would be ahead of some of those guys. My first mile or two would be 5:20-5:40 or so. Remember this is based on a rough average pace of 7:20-40 in training. Of course I would did in the middle, then regroup and try to pick it up at the end.
I believe that 5K PR was on a very flat 5K course, a day I held the pace the whole way.
No I'm not full of it.
That was not a nice thing to say, by the way.
I have been to 155 twice, and averaged 150 a week for 4
weeks with speed but not at Malmo's intensity. Ran 151 miles
at age 54.
