Why do you think this? The laws of science are the same at every school. And even if you're a rankings slave, Oregon is rated #1-#5 in the nation in several majors. So it really just depends on the major.

Agreed. Those are more up to date and I did quote the games rules, but that page that you linked to does not talk about mixed races and I know for a fact those marks aren't allowed as this was an issue last year for several young women trying to get into the 10,000 at USATF nationals. Not sure why they do not state this rule on the page you linked to, but it is USATF!

I don't think there's a problem with eligibility, since this was an open meet and she ran unattached. There were several club runners and other unattached runners in the meet.
Incidentally - last place in Beijing was 33:17 (29th).

This is a strange question. Are you asking if she'll be eligible for the NCAA Championships this year, or are you asking if she broke an NCAA rule by competing as a high-schooler in an all-comers meet?
This is a strange comment. Are you saying that she belongs in the Olympics, she doesn't belong, or that it's funny that someone ran the same time in another race?
As long as you run unattached you may compete in the open division.
As a high school athlete you cannot run in a college event when there are also high school divisions (Mt. Sac, Penn Relays, Stanford) or you are disqualified from high school competition. No high school events you are free to compete.
In this girl's case her school is not a part of their State Sports federation thus does not compete in their State track meets. So she is free to compete as an open runner in any event that she likes.
Or so the rules say.

She and her team are not members of the public school assoc., she is still a HS kid and she and her school are members of the exclusive private school assoc., as far as the NCAA is concerned she is still a HS kid.
Anyone know of another 10k she can run in that has good female competitors prior to the trials? Some open invite somewhere in the country with similar talent as hers?
I was there with 4 GBTC runners in the 10,000. Conditions were ideal for most long distance runners. For Hatton the guys offered an even pace and company. There is no doubt the time and distance is real.
Runners had no heat stress and no wind. Hatton did not have to make pace decisions or worry about place as in a championship. But we can't say that the lack of personal competitive pressure that might be there in a title race helped or hurt her time. The weather certainly helped.

The Olympic B standard is 32:10. The OT A (32:45) isn't even under the Olympic B.

I wasn't there to watch, but can someone tell me why three of the four other girls in that same race ran huge PR's by 35-50 seconds. Im not saying something is fishy, but its odd that everyone set a personal best by a lot.
She ran some pretty good times in shorter distances in age group meets, obviously girls change over time, but I would suspect she is still a pretty good miler.
