If you had been paying attention the last 4 years you'd know that Alan Webb can't run 3:46 and 1:43 either.

Were my exact words Alan Webb can run those times right now? he obviously has in the past. All i am saying that he deserves more respect than you people are giving him. who cares if he can't run that right now. Stop talking shit. What good does it do? And yes there is plenty of relavence.... you a cutting down a runner who has in the past run 1:43 and 3:46 and holds the american record which is no easy task and took considerable amounts of hard work. When you yourself cannot even imagine running anywhere near that. Everyone has a limited amount of races in them eventually you run out of gas.... Prefontaine is remembered as a great american running icon. What if Pre hadnt been in that accident and began running significantly slower? Even if Webb's best days are behind him show some respect and remember what he he has accomplished in the past. He too has been a great american running icon and deserves more respect than many give him. No one enjoys being put on a pedestal and being cut down constantly.

The thing is that Web´b isn´t even 30 years old and he is running joke times compared to what he did a few years ago. Even if he has had a lot of problems recently he should still be able to run significantly faster.

?If Africans do mature faster, there is no excuse for Webb to be running this slow right now. He should at least be able to keep up with Lagat, who is 6 years older than him.

he looked tense and tight? not really...maybe he looked antsy if anything, holding back a lot of the race. He had to slow down a few times, at the start, and between 200 and 400 where he tried to move up on the inside. He accelerated with ease to take the lead, and looked ready to blow past the guy who won on the straight away. The video taken from the homestretch shows that much better than the other video.

My take from the race

* Slow pace

* He had to slow down twice

* He looked like he was about to pick it up and win

* Negative split

I say he was in 1:51 flat shape in a race that goes out in 54 where he doesn't have to try to make a move and just hangs on going out in 54.5-55.0. Not great, but looked MUCH better than his first race.

this fall is bollocks. He maybe hit the "rail" - which is PVC pipes cut in half, laid loose on the ground - but this is not enough to cause a person to fall.
