LV went tri because he knows he is not competitive with Kenyans and never would be. He chose to go after the softer competition in tri.
Ficker decided to get out of tri because she knows she is competitive and has talent, but she is never going anywhere as a blue collar triathlete. Time constraints limit what she can do in terms of training. With running, she can put in a full schedule of training comparable to the professional runners where she can never do the same with professional triathletes. Plus, that tri equipment is expensive.
Ficker will make the podium somewhere.
Your post is so utterly full of baloney I don't even know where to begin.Desiree has never broken 34:00 for a 10K, plus ran a 1:14 half and has never even hit tne "A" standard for the US Olympic trials and you are putting her on a "podium somewhere."? Now that she is off the bike she will get leaner and maybe find a coach to show her how to run. I saw her in NYC in 2009 and couldn't believe how awful her running form was.
She could be a Marathon Trials Qualifier in 2016.
