thanks for those resources malmo......I've been doing some research on this to better take money from my friends, but you gave me some new things to look through.

I had no idea the good doctor was a poker player. I'll have to ask him about it next time I see him, but hopefully I can manage to stay out of his office this summer.
He's just started. The first game he payed the price. I've got A-10, an A flops. I bet big, he calls. Turn, I bet bigger he calls. River, I see he has nothing, but he's an unknown quantity, I bet even bigger, figuring it will come down to the kicker, he calls again with nothing. NOTHING. I wanted to give him some money back. I'm thinking to myself, "What the f*** do you think I was holding, my (Johnson)?"
He did his homework for the second game. Played well. Had what cannot be taught- patience. Except for that "Moneymaker" move with the 6-4, he played like he had thousands of hours of seat time. Fullem is going to be very good.
Then again, in the same game (previous month) I watched an idiot call all-in $600 (previous action $300) with wired 3s when the board showed 10-10-x-x-x with all x's being over 3.
my best hands:
flopped a straight flush, A-5
K high straight flush on the river
Royal flush on the turn
oh, and I once had 4 tens before the draw in 5 card draw - but that was strip poker. ;-)
I had a $10 buy in with my friends today and walked out with $61.50 but to be fair we were all rather drunk. I almost feel bad taking advantage of them like this.
bump
Carnoviore,
Did you try out pokertracker or get your feet wet online?
Haven't tried it yet, though I will. I've been playing mostly small neighborhood games and fooling around a little on Party Poker. A buddy who plays a lot is sending me a CD on Hold Em strategy, and I've used malmo's cardouts table as well. So far it's been successful ... they aren't inviting me to play with them as often anymore, so it may be time to take it to the next level.
big blind bump

I've been online for quite awhile now and have steadily made money. I've also used a product made by Wilson software for practice. WSOP starts soon and a couple of guys from my office are in.
Carnivore, I know of at least two runners that I know of (three if you count Doyle) competing in the WSOP this year. Both have visited Letsrun.
6600 players, first day is actually three separate days (flights) of 2200.
I went all in with three queens against three aces and lost.
This is a decent story:
This past year at school, I play this 8 or 9 person $5 tourney with friends. Not intense at all. Everyone knew how to play, but we weren't trying to pick up tells or get ppl on tilt.
So me and my friend are the two best players at the table. We play a lot online and are consistent. Early on I get Kings and he gets Aces. We're playing NL. He kept raising me and I got kinda of worried he had the Aces. But I pushed my chips in anyways hoping he had AK or Queens. He had the Aces though.
I catch a King on the river.
Brutal beat. What made it worse was that we definitely would've made it to the final three if I didn't knock him out. I felt bad.
I've had FIVE, count 'em, five Royal Flushes in my career. Beat that...."
I've had four malmo, and I'm 19 yrs. old. And I don't think I play at crazy levels. I have played online since I turned 18. Only one of those times, my two hole cards were used. The other times, I only had one part to the royal flush.
(One time was live. Playing heads up with my friend.)
So I don't have as many as you yet, but 4 at the age of 19 is good. And I'm sure there are tons of kids out there who play a lot more than I do, thus have probably hit more RFs.
I was playing online and had 6 7 suited ...big blind...no one raises so I get to play for free. flop... 3 4 5 of my suit. I just sit back and let the betting begin...calling everyones bets until the river where I go all in get called by 2 people and win a nice amount....other guy had full house and one guy had ace high flush.
what are the best sites to play online?
My buddy is in the top 500; anyone else out there still alive?
There are a lot of great poker sites to play at. Most offer good bonuses. The link below offers some good poker sites as well as online casinos. I make a few thousand a month doing this and I am not even that great at poker. Post back if you want more info as I have become very knowledgeable about chasing poker bonuses online.
Carnivore, that's just one flight. The first round consists of three flights on three separate days Th-F-S, the top 500-650 of each day will be combined, and the rest of the tourney starts in earnest on Sunday.
I believe Ken Martin got knocked out yesterday and Brian Fullem is playing today or tomorrow.
My mistake. I've been traveling the last couple of days and am just getting back. Well, here's hoping that our buddies survive through the weekend.
Carnivore69, Malmo, and All, Well I've stopped posting regularly, but I just can't stay away from poker talk. A year ago I really wanted to be in this year's WSOP main event, but a year of poker playing has made me realize that shelling out 10k is something that is not exactly financially responsible at this point in my life. Also, I would much rather take 10k in cash than win a seat, so I never entered any tournaments or super-tournaments to gain one. The variance and buy-in is so high in an event like this that it is too much of a gamble for me. I guess I am a wuss. I do, however, know of a prestigious and very helpful contributor to this board that is playing in the main event tomorrow (C start). I don't know whether he wants his name shared so I'll let him decide. I hope the best for him, especially since he has been medically responsible for my ability to run the past 5ish years. My online play is going pretty well. My handle on PartyPoker is ninjaferret. I actually play on a Party skin, Empire Poker, but it is the same site. Recently you can find me at the NL$200 tables. I played 1,000 $50 sit&goes a few months ago, but dropped them when I wasn't making an acceptable hourly rate.
