Considering she has 9:02 flat 3000 pb, 9:40 seems about right. Delilah, in many ways, is pretty much the same runner she was in 2008.
She made world's really because the event is very weak in the US right now. If Barringer or Pierce are in the race or if Garcia doesn't wipe out, she wouldn't have made the team. She made the team by running 9:46 at USAs. That would have made the Olympic team in 2008 if Barringer and Pierce weren't in there as well.
If I were here, I might try to run world's on a stress fracture as the odds of her making it in 2012 aren't great if Barringer or Pierce come back to the event. But then again, if you are an athlete and thinking that realistically, then you probably shouldn't be in the sport as you don't believe in yourself.
Delilah making the team this year is a great story. It's just sad that you are casting drug accusations at her with false information. Her performances really aren't a whole lot better. The results are and America is a very much results only culture.

1. Agree with you on everything in correcting this...except one thing in your comments. As a former steepler myself, I always loved the answer of Frank Baumgartl interviewed after falling in the 1976 Olympic Steeple on the final barrier as it seemed he was moving into first. Q something like: Would you have won if you had cleared the barrier? A something like: In steeplechase you are supposed to clear the barriers, and I did not. Garcia also did not. 2. Debbie Dunn looks like the most suspicious drop out yet. Though details may change that.

Carmelita Jeter comes to mind. First she's dominating the 100, running times faster than a doped Marion Jones, then beats multiple world champion Alyson Felix in the 200. All this at an age when most sprinters are in decline or retired...hhhhmmmmm yea, she's the new steroid queen.

As someone who follows the sprints, she always struck me as someone who was using drugs.

It's definitely still a lame excuse, but it has nothing to do with the competition in her event.

Athletes who are allocated $150,000 by sponsors for vitamin support have the technicians that can clear any detecable substances. It's the up-and-coming and wannabes who are unduly exposed and must feign injury to save their careers. That's life in the big city.

She had an off year and I doubt she will ever get better. Last year was her career year and she ran a ton of races. Look at her times this season and she basically peaked at the US champs with a very slow 50.70. All of her other times this year have been in the 51s and some 52s after the US champs.
She has been around for a long time and has probably been tested as much as anyone. She usually runs a full indoor season, she has been on relay squads, she runs in high profile meets. Instead of drugs I would say father time caught up with her.
