WINS 800M IN 1:44.71!!

Glad and excited to see the video this morning after reading all about it last night.

Did anyone else think Andrews snuck up a bit on Jock right at the very end? Just watching the race in real time I got the feeling if he had been closer to Jock and he'd felt him coming, he might have been able to hold him off. Maybe being pushed wide helped a little in the end. Just my thought.

I like Andrews do not get me wrong, and I also like it when U of O gets knocked off its high horse every once in a while, but I am very surprised that there was no protest after this race. Watching the video I actually think, Greer may have been able to win this race were it not for Andrews coming from the outside of lane 3 to the inside of lane 3 with 15 meters to go. Also you can tell Greer felt he was cheated as he was the only competitor not to give Andrews a big hug for his win.

clearly cuts off Greer, didn't affect the outcome? maybe, maybe not, but by cutting off Greer, Andrews shows his character

He was wearing a crucifix necklace so I assume he is somewhat religious- to each his own. But I will say I thought it was humorous right after the race when he said something akin to "I just believed. I believed in my training, I believed in my coaches, I believed in God, I believed in my girlfriend."

WTF are you talking about? Andrews keeps his line, and cuts in after he blows by Greer. You must be some bitter oregon fan.

I'm surprised Vin Banana didn't petition to get Greer the win.

Just watched the race on cbs replay, andrews clearly cuts him off by merging in his lane thus he runs into the loxsom and greer does proceed to pass loxsom, who knows if he wouldve kept stride what he couldve done.

Andrews stupid disbelief face after the race then OBrien asks him how does he time and time again pull off these come from behind races.

He shouldve of said i make sure i run my competition into the other lane thus they cant compete with me.

Greer ought to be used to losing to Andrews at this point. If Greer ever dares to move up and race Robby at 1500 (and he likely will not), the margin will be much greater.

As for character, the Andrews family has it in spades. You will not find a better guy than Bob Andrews. His son, Robby, is no different.

That was probably the most incredible 800 race that I have ever seen since the 1972 Olympic Final.

Robby Andrews is truly the future of American 800 meter running.

Yes andrews did merge into greers lane AFTER, thats AFTER he had gained a full stride on greer. There was nothing wrong with the way he raced and people should stop trying to make something out of nothing.

last 200 for andrews was 26.44, holy shit. He was the only runner in the field to run a faster last 200 than 3rd 200. Amazing to think what he'll be able to run at USA's and further on.

The kid races to win. Who knows what his ceiling is. Whether its a 149 race or a 144 race the kid knows how to win.

He ran the last bend wide in lane 1/on the line with lane 2, and only moved into lane 2 as it came into the straight. It doesn't matter what lane you run in down the straights, every lane is the same distance!

If he'd run the entire last bend wholly in lane 2, then that would have been an extra 3.5m. He didn't. He ran between 2 and 3 m further than if he'd had a clear run on the inside of lane 1. Let's call it 2.5m. That's just over 0.3 in time. So his last 200m of 26.4 was worth around 26.1.
