Wow, what a relief. I was waiting to see what Obama did but now I can release my son's birth certificate to his baseball coach. I had given him a piece of paper that swore he was 11 years old or under but now I can make it official.

Just a few days ago Trump was bloviating that he'd sent people to Hawaii to find the truth. He said that at a certain point in time he'd be "revealing some interesting things". He speculated that Obama's birth certificate (which someone told him is missing) could state that he's a Muslim.

Presumably the "interesting things" are that the birth certificate exists and, like most birth certificates, doesn't mention religion.

Funny, I figured it would be, you know, juicier.

And it appears that those investigators he hired didn't do squat. Why couldn't they find the birth certificate? Are they just incompetent?

This wasn't a "re-releasing". Today he released the long form birth certificate for the first time. You could argue that it's not substantively different than what he released in 2007, but it's not the same thing.

Trump has delivered, it was a win for both individuals. Now that the issue has been laid to rest maybe Trump can stay on items like our failed free trade policy, policeman of the world(that is bankrupting us)we never make any one pay us back . Example:Occupation of Iraq. Trump is the only individual possibly running on the Republican ticket that could beat Obama, it's not going to be some one from the religious right or a tea bagger. I am hoping the far right of the party denies him the nomination and he runs third party. He would pull Dem's who don't like Obama, Independents like myself who would run as far as possible away from the far right, and moderate republicans who don't like the fact the party has been taken over by the religious right and tea baggers. He is the only guy with a populist approach and has the cogs to get the job done.We would have a guy interested in the economy,jobs and bringing corporations back to America instead of wasting time with legislation to remove funding for Head Start, Pell Grants, NPR, Planned parenthood, etc. that they knew would go nowhere.Trump will be good for America.

Some people see race wherever they look. Perhaps you fit into that category. Perhaps, some of the birthers fit into that category as well.

The reason his parent's citizenship is relevant is the Constitution has a requirement for the President to be a "natural born" citizen. People with 2 American citizens for parents are natural born citizens regardless of where they were born. So none of our Presidents for a long ways back could have their eligibility for office depend on where they were born. The 14th Amendment made it clear that someone born in the USA is a natural born citizen, meaning that regardless of his Father's non-citizenship status, Obama is eligible to be President due to his birth in the USA.

If Jessie Jackson had become President, no one would have asked to see his birth certificate.

I'm not usually this snarky, but are you one of the ones who can't read?

I'm for people voting who are interested in facts and care about the result. These people can fall anywhere on the political spectrum at all. Great.

I have a problem with people who don't care about the truth and keep repeating a false mantra to themselves. This goes for anyone, right or left.

It's been legally established for a long, long time that Obama was born in the U.S. Anybody who believed otherwise (except for those who were using it for political purposes, like Trump), had no interest in the truth. Period. That is a fact. That is not my "opinion" as you state. They were only interested in being anti-Obama.

And don't turn this into a "well libs did it for Bush" deal, because I'm 100% with you on that. As a liberal, I say some of the stuff liberals believed about Bush was just as deluded as the birther nonsense.

None of it has any place in politics.
