He [Ed Whitlock] set (and still holds) the M75 World Record (set at Rotterdam in 2007) – running 3:04:54
The M80 WR is 3:39:18 – held by Robert Horman of Australia, set back in 1998. The CAN record is 4:19.
First though, Ed is heading to Kamloops to run the Canadian Masters Indoor Championships next weekend. He’s running the 1500m and the 3000m.
The 1500m WR is 6:19 Ed ran 5:53 at the OMA Indoor Championships a few weeks ago.
The 3000m WR is 13:30 Ed ran 12:23 – over a minute faster at the OMA Indoors
Ed plans to run some of the Masters track races in June – the Ontario Championships on June 5th and the Canadian Championships on June 18-19 at Varsity Stadium.
Some of the M80 WR’s that may be in his sights are;
1500m 5:59 He ran 5:53 Indoors
5000m 21:57 Ed ran 21:24 at last year’s Canadian Masters Championships
10,000m 44:29 Ed ran 44:46 at the same meet
