Fade to Black by metallica first one in mind for me. such and official song
Good ones on here, I wanted to piggy back on a very unique one mentioned...also covered by Metallica, but here's Ennio Morricone's "Esctasy of Gold" straight from the greatest western ever, as well as one of the greatest scenes ever...never gets f*cking old!
PS: I've had Metallica's "Ecstacy..."on my playlist for races, usually for the home stretch.
I'm a sucker for long "outros." Two of my current favorites are the New Pornographers' "Bleeding Heart Show" (used, unfortunately and incongruously, in the University of Phoenix ads). The last two minutes or so are all great Keith Moon-esque drum fills and a fantastic, non-sensical celebration of three awesome chords.

And, yes, the Ting Tings' "That's Not My Name," which ends with the same sort of building ecstasy. An absolutely vacuous song that nevertheless thrills.

Also, The Postal Service hit one out of the park with "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight." The song starts off with an almost idiotic three-note descending line on synths, and then blossoms to a deeply layered, rhythmic epiphany.

So these songs build to a "crazy ending?" Maybe not quite; but they're all pretty darn satisfying.

Speaking of Keith Moon, "Love Reign O'er Me' by the Who starts slow and ends in an explosive wall of sound!
