Forget the time, that's not important. Just look at that picture! How can anyone look at that picture and say, "Yeah, that looks fine" It gives runners a bad name. Arm warmers have ruined our sport, and that is coming from a gay guy?

And when you were running those 2:34s and 2:35s, I doubt you were looking at the 35 year old who ran 2:37 behind you, saying, "man you suck".

Listen, as I said before, our depth is clearly not like it was in the 70s and 80s. But that still doesn't make running 6:00 pace not solid.

You're confusing a lack of depth with a lack of appreciation for an absolute time.

From an absolute time perspective, I'll say it again, running 6:00 pace for 26.2 is impressive.

I have a PR of 2:32. I don't snub my nose at 2:37, and my friends who have run 2:20, 2:24, 2:27 and 2:29 don't snub their nose at my 2:32.

marathon times aren't based on fashion (though i'll admit the arm-warmers-no-shirt thing doesn't look right).

Patrick ran my 50k race in VFFs in February, finishing 4th. He's also run the 100k twice in shoes, finishing first once in 8:29 and fifth in 8:44.

Is it the fact that an outsole company...not a running shoe company...ACCIDENTALLY made a better running shoe than most running shoe companies? How embarrassing for them. Spending all this time and money building and marketing shoes only to be outclassed by a freaking outsole company.

Or does the hatred stem from the fact thay you have religiously believed the dogma about pronation control, stability, and heel toe running preached by runners world and the five fingers represent the destruction of that entire concept.

Some of you numbskulls still believe this guy is going to injure himself because he is running in five fingers??? How many ultras, marathons, and training runs will it take for you fools to realize people CAN run safely in five fingers and for some people five fingers are one of the safest shoes to run in???

I have a hard time believing a bunch of juvenile and adult males are really concerned about another mans footwear from a fashion stanpoint, so let's hear the real cause for the name calling and constant belittling of these shoes, because "they look gay" just isn't adding up.

The '77 marathon had about 900 feet of climbing, though the profile was different.

The 1st mile was up, 2nd gradual down, 3 through 6 climbing, 7 steep fast downhill, brutal switchbacks to 10-13, then regular hills and rolling the rest of the way. The 25th mile was uphill, the 26th was a sharp downhill , the last 1/2 mile was relatively flat.

Do the socks and condoms come in that outre argyle pattern?

We got the vibrams in yesterday. we went 0/5 getting people to fit their pinky toe in. Very mediocre.

Exactly. People are frustrated that so many others are benefiting from and enjoying the minimalist method which goes against decades of marketing which they have bought into. I believe we are entering a new paradigm of running, some might say regaining the old. I can't wait to see how others fair.
