Find me one release that said that there was any WR attempt at the 2010 NY Half Marathon, a course which takes runners along the hilly Central Park loop. I would bet that the course isn't even eligible for records.

And I don't understand what my PRs have to do with Geb being washed up. My name isn't thrown all over the running media every where I go even though I seem to never live up to expectations. I also don't get 6 figures to break WRs or win races or at least contend. If I had the results that Geb has had these past 6 months and still took tens of thousands of dollars in prize money, I'd expect somebody to get on my ass. Hell, I'd expect somebody to try to arrest me for stealing money from these race directors. I slept wrong? My asthma acted up on a 60 degree dry breezy day? Please.

I'm glad to see the BroJo's are questioning Geb's abilities on the frontpage, its about time somebody in the running community with a voice gets off their knees and realizes that Geb's time is over.

I have great respect for Geb's lifetime accomplishments, and he is still a better runner than all but a handul of others at most distances. That being said, I agree, his excuses lately are pretty eyebrow-raising. The asthma bit is particularly odd- as someone mentioned, someone truly having an asthma attack doesn't just stop for a break, then start up again. They usually need to stop whatever is inciting the attack (exposure to smoke, exercise, whatever)and take their rescue inhaler.

I would have appreciated what I suspect is the honest answer: "I couldn't stay with him today." Of course, he owes me nothing, and can make whatever excuse he likes, but I would bet that his agent will find it harder and harder to get gauranteed money for him in the future.
