something no one has mentioned is the possibility that Duke is extra motivated this year because of their teammate who got paralyzed over the summer.
i dont know anyone on the team so i have no idea if that made a difference, but it seems likely that they would have that in mind throughout the season - and you would have to be happy for the Duke team in that case
We at Duke xc appreciate the praise from the above post and others. Although Kevin Mcdermotts tragic accident proved extrememely inspiring, (particularly at the UVA invite in which he showed up) that is not the motivation that drives this team. This has been a work in progress for the past 2-3 years when things really started to change around here. Those who bred negativity graduated, and we now have a full squad of guys dedicated to one cause- being good year in year out. We aren't going anywhere, nor are we moving over for anyone in the ACC.
I'd also like to give a shoutout to my teammate Bo Waggonner, who sucessfully predicted the 31 teams for the second year in a row. We'll see yall at the ship.
