Videos of the chinese do exist but the main problem is the language barrier. Youtube isn't popular in China so you aren't going to find footage on english websites. A google-video search of wang junxia in chinese (王军霞) brings up pages upon pages of videos, many with clips of the races, so its obvious that full-race footage is out there somewhere. Unfortunately I don't understand Chinese so I cant search as deep as I'd like to.

this seems like a "reunion of ma's army" video. quite long with lots of scattered footage and photos; every member of the 93 squad seems to be there apart from qu yunxia.

I agree. If everyone was on PEDS, the chinese would be the ones to squeeze every drop out of it more than anyone else. So you see it all comes down to hard work in the end.

Myself, I'm inclined to believe that there was probably doping in Ma's Army. But I also find something compelling (and stimulating) in the idea that the success came at least in part from the training methods/psychological abuse.

There are 4 times as many Chinese as Americans, so their odds are somewhat better to start off with. Couple that with a state-sponsored athlete training program and you have a system much better designed to put the best talent forward. People look at Galen Rupp and say he is spoiled and coddled- he is well supported. He has everything he could possibly need at his disposal. Liu Xiang has that same kind of support from China itself.

Also, white guys hold all the throwing WRs, Decath, Triple Jump and Pole Vault currently. An American currently holds the WR for Shot Put (set in '90), and Dan O'Brien held the WR in the Decathlon from '92 to '01. Both were white guys.

I think this needs a bump.

Indeed! many kudos to you good sir! Interestng that the chinese are leading happy, successful lives now. With all the hearsay about the girls of 93 you'd think they would've gone the way of many East-German athletes of the 1980's.

And Wang Junxia looks surprisingly attractive in that last video :/
