I wish I knew then what I know now about training- especially rest and recovery- and I wish we had the shoe and custom orthotics technology then that we have now.
I was never going to be great, but I was close to breaking 16:00, I think I could have at least been in the 15's.
I have one regret.
My biggest regret by far was trying race walking as a cheap shot of getting to the Olympics. I knew I could do well.
However, my knees were not cut out for the stupid action of it. After a few months I tore my meniscus and damaged a load of other structures in my left knee. Ten years on and it still isn't right, it's a permanent injury and in terms of its impact, it's nearing a disability. Some level of pain every day, and some limitations.
I wish I had stuck with running and never tried racewalking, not even once. Aside from that I felt stupid doing that by the side of a road.
I regret not running on my own instead of a team. The only team I could boin was a 100-400m group and I am true slow twitch.... So I ran for 6 months and was injured for 4 years. Started running again a few years later.

Regret overtraining in my senior year in college and the 2 years after. I made good improvements in sophomore/ junior year (basically from 15.00 to 14.00 on about 70-75M a week), and decided to 'go for it' and started logging regular 100+M a week with a lot of intensity as well. Completely burned myself out when I should have had my best years... ran some races backwards and got tired of running after 2 years of trying too hard. Then focused more on work, trained 45-50M a week and actually approached the old level, but I'm pretty sure those two years were my shot to really find out what I could do!
Did you qualify for Boston?
