Rupp is close to this progression. Incidently Solinsky ran 13:12 at age 22; hopefully he gets back on track too.

One thing BK had going for him was the fact that he went many years w/o an injury. I always thought Daniel Lincoln and Adam Goucher were just as talented, but the never got in the sustained training periods BK did. Btw, BK got down to sub-13 by improvig a little bit each year.

Typical? To use your own example:

As someone here has already pointed out wisely, Mebs PR before he ran 2713 was a wopping 40 SECONDS slower. And contrary to what you say, he has only run under 2730 two other times, both after setting the record. This all 3 years out of college. And for some perspective, his 2753 mark was itself a 40 second improvement from his 10k time two years previous of 2831.

Rupp ran 2815 out of high school for the junior record. Two years later he ran 2733 for the collegiate record. And now in 2009, two years after running 2733, will we see him improve by another 40 seconds? Doubtful, but the trend suggests he should be able to surpass Meb's record at the very least. I'm not saying any of this guarantees Rupp will improve by such a margin, just that it is not uncommon for this kind of improvement to occur (as you try to argue).

Did 1330 suggest 2733? No, but that's still what he ran.

You're either a troll or an idiot (likely both). I could list off performances (every one of which has improved significantly since his 2733, besides conveniently, 2733, well duh he hasn't run a fast 10k yet) but I won't. And his mile time HAS improved 3-4 seconds over the past year, since up until this Winter, his PR was still over 4 minutes (and don't say he didn't try to get under 4 in his first four years of college. He ran 403 as recently as last Spring).
