I don't really understand the question. Where I live, American cars *are* foreign. They are also expensive, ugly, poorly built, have low power engines, poor fuel economy, handle poorly and pollute excessively.Perhaps if we progressed more in the following areas:1) Further expand "free trade" agreements which facilitate closure of American manufacturing plants, and opening of new plants in cheap labor countries.2) Establish protectionist tariffs on imports to limit and restrict the supply of truly competitive alternatives. This may require some lobbying or bribery to get around potential problems with the WTO, but will go a long way to inhibiting competition that normally would force car manufacturers to make the kinds of improvements consumers can benefit from.3) Dismantle the free market and re-establish the "big 3" cartel (oh the good old days) so that consumers no longer have the freedom to exercise individual choice. If we can inhibit enough of the freedoms people enjoy today in a free market society, and truly eliminate competition, perhaps then we can finally realize the dream of making American car executives richer, while putting American laborers out of work, and exploiting cheap foreign labor.
