That was class. Nearly got it wrong! What a race.
How bizarre. Wami passed Paula on CPS and then suddenly slowed down and Paula was gone. Paula won easily.
Paula!
Paula Radcliffe made a stunning comeback at the ING New York City Marathon leading wire-to-wire to win in (an unofficial) 2:23:09. Gete Wami was second, good enough to take the first World Marathon Majors title.
Well done paula radcliffe
I thought Wami had something left and was waiting to kick, but it's definitely a mistake to underestimate Paula. She looks like she's putting in as much effort as she can and then she speeds up.
Paula is the best !!!!
Paula 0:16:46 0:33:25 0:50:12 1:07:04 1:24:27 1:41:16 1:58:16 2:15:40 2:23:08
Absolutely brilliant..Radcliffe is amazing..to do it from the front..The best there has ever been..I just hope she gets what she deserves in Beijing

"I've had years and years of her outsprinting me, and I just thought there's no way it's going to happen again. It was tough - I didn't have the breathing problems I usually get towards the end, but my legs felt very tired. I just kept repeating to myself 'I love you Isla' to keep my rhythm going."
