What were your faves?
My first running shoes:
New Balance Tracksters!!! 1971- my school gave them to us. You couldn't buy NB in stores back then. You had to trace your feet on paper and send it in to them. There weren't a lot of choices- just basically running shoes.
Other than them the Onitsuka Tigers were my favorites.
SL72 were one of my first name brand running shoes.

The Nike Waffle Trainer. It was the most innovative at the time. It had the "waffle sole" which still lasts in just about all running shoes in some way although in a different shape.
That was my first "real" running shoe. I bought it as soon as it came out in 1976. Before that I had the Nike Cortez. I think I bought them at Super Jock & Jill in Seattle at their original store (the converted gas station) before they moved to their present location.
Our coach passed out used Adidas Roms and spikes that had soles as hard as plywood. The pain of fatigue was nothing like what our feet had to endure. And then we got in shape by racing in the hallways, and bouncing off the lockers.
