I've noticed that Stockton, CA has topped 3 or 4 different lists on this thread (including my own). Man, that place just sucks.

Sodom, Gomorah
I have spoken, and smitten.
How have we gotten this far without mentioning New Jersey cities like Camden, Elizabeth, and Paterson?
Beijing.
The former Nazi Germany is today's Israel. You Americans support Nazis and Zionists occupying Palestine, Iraq, etc. That is really sick, pathetic, and disgusting. You Americans slaughter Palestinian and Iraqi women and children each day and occupy Palestine and Iraq with a racist, apartheid imperialist army. The entire world is fighting the United States in Iraq and Palestine. You have lost, as your president and congress have already admitted and thrown in the towel. Get out before the nukes start falling on Tel Aviv and Haifa, there will be nothing left. I hope it does not have to happen, that you will recognize democracy, and withdrawal all Nazis, Zionists, and Crusaders from Iraq and Palestine. If nukes fall on Haifa and Tel Aviv, nobody will know who did it. The nuclear material might be from the United States, or maybe from Russia, or maybe from France, or maybe from China, or maybe from India. We will only have God to thank for saving Palestine and Iraq from the foreign invaders.
Liverpool
Cincinnati -no trails, too conservative (non-political), the sports teams suck and have no pride, nothing at all to do here. Nothing outdoorsy to do.
Out of all the places I've lived or visited for several days -
San Francisco
Oakland
Chicago
Boston
New York
Budapest
Houston
Seattle
Washington DC
Baltimore
I hate to say it, but I think I like New York the least. Well, Manhattan anyway. It's unbelievably crowded, it's dirty, it smells, it's expensive. Daily running must suck when all you have is Central Park. Sure enough, I'm headed back this weekend though for a friend's going away party. Maybe the nightlife will change my mind, though it never has before.
Freetown, Sierra Leone is not a place any of us would want to be in.

Besides that, all the great strip clubs in Newport are a thing of the past.
I kind of like cincy though but usually stay out in the blue ash area.
stockton, CA is one of the shitier places in ca, but not the shitiest. i'd nominate inland empire, fresno, bakersfield, or merced. and even as shitty as stockton is, it is much better than shitholes like baltimore, cleveland, atalnta, philly, the entire midwest, the entire south, etc. stockton has decent weather...sunny year round... and is not far from cool places like the bay area, yosemite etc.
and who was the maryland guy that said san diego was smoggy/shitier than baltimore. are you fuggin kidding. san diego is one of the best places to live and run in the world!!! all the california coastal cities are good. san francisco, oakland, san jose, la, sd. even the inland ones aren't too bad either. a little congested, but the people and weather more than make up for that.
yes capitalism has screwed up way too many cities
Freetown's making a comeback (I've never been, though.)
Accra, Ghana (I have been) can wear on you. The people are way nicer than anywhere in the US but the conditions are far worse.
As for Detroit, it gets a horrible reputation in the media but it's not that bad. The heart of the city is quite cool. If we're going to talk about Michigan, why not go with Flint?

Good point. I overlooked it when thinking about the "worst cities." It definately should be up there.
dude, Columbus Sucks
Yeah, I found Columbus to be far more tedious than Cincinnati.
I haven't been to Asuncion, Paraguay but I can't imagine it's any good.
It's not the best running town, but Ault Park and Mt. Airy Forest are nice. Bengals, no pride? I think not. It's not the best city I've lived in, but far from the worst.

San Diego's air is very polluted. The Maryland guy was right, SD is a blast to vist but the cost of living, traffic problems and crime make it a not so great place to live. San Diego must have been unreal in the 60's, 70's and 80's but its time has passed.

Cost living is high because it is actually a place worth living. All things equal, where would you really live: SF or Baltimore????
If anything we need a return to revitalize our cities. A very real cause for many of our problems is suburban sprawl.
whoever said sydney is the worst is an absolute lunatic. i've lived in and visited cities all over the us, europe, asia and australia, and sydney is my favourite. beautiful harbour, beaches, great restaurants and pubs. i'll admit it is a bit pricey though. my vote for worst goes to oklahoma city (if that counts as a city..)
