Watch the news. The U.S. has lost the war in Iraq. The U.S. hides in the corner of Baghdad and is afraid to come out and fight. The U.S. soldiers hide in Strikers, HumVees, bomb from helicopters and airplanes. With that sort of cowardice you can only lead your army to defeat. They were trained to be losers with no confidence from before they arrived in Iraq. The Pentagon has really ripped off the U.S. taxpayers. It's a huge loss for the Crusaders and Zionists.

All I know is that every time a republican becomes president the doomsday clock moves closer to midnight.

The Iraq War is lost unless the U.S. replaces it's Army with true soldiers that can fight. U.S. soldiers must stand and fight shoulder to shoulder with the Iraqi Army and Police. To win we must expect 20,000-50,000 U.S. soldiers killed each year, and is a terrible and necessary price to pay for our freedoms. This is the only way to rescue the War Against Terrorism. The current tactics of isolation to the green zone, and use of protective body armor, armored vehicles, air strikes, etc. will not convince the Iraqi people to side with the U.S. against Al Queda. The U.S. must select and adopt some the successful tactics of the terrorists, venture out of the green zone, integrate, and become an integral part of Iraqi society. This is the only way we can win.

Returning to the original question (and to sound a bit like Arthur Clarke), I think that within 50,000 years the following biological shifts will have happened:

1. Complete technological singularity.

2. Colonization of other solar systems, if not galaxies (the latter likely would require some form of worm-hole technology).

Sure, humanity we remember will be more or less the same. I see no logical reason why next 47,000 year won’t be like the last 3000 years. We all just got here why we would want to spoil it for ourselves.

It could be a whole 'nother type of people. I think we will experience another "Dark Ages" when we just use too much of everything- energy, resources, etc. We're going to have "Black Friday" and set the world back 2000 years. Then we will evolve and make the same freaking mistakes. Except this time, there won't be PED'S.

Colonization of other star systems and galaxies is the only way to ensure humanity's survival. Just colonizing the oceans leaves us prone to extinction events, but if we can get off this planet and spread, mankind should be safe (I'm paraphrasing Hawking).

if a comet or a large asteroid hits the earth, it's likely to kill most life on earth. and it's likely that a comet or a large asteroid will hit the earth, but maybe not within the next 50,000 years.
