Was anyone aware that Fernando was in Napa over the weekend? Just saw his name in the race results...
1:04:57 for the half. Not too shabby...

Expecially since he won by 5 minutes. I saw him about 7 miles and he was already ahead by quite a big margin and didn't look like he was working all that hard.
"EXpecially"? Come on Miles. :-]Didn't see you in the results. What is your next race?

Nice job in Napa, FC.
Apparently he ran the 1:04 off of his 4th week at 110+ miles. Should set up well for WC's.

It wasn't my turn. That was my wife's race. My next Marathon is Cowtown here in Sacramento Oct. 7th. Running some tune ups here and there (Eppies this weekend).
Hey Miles...
Do you have anybody pacing you for the race? Any other trials hopeful running Sac that weekend? Looks like you may be quite lonely out there. Best of luck...
How the hell do you think M&M saw that at 7 miles if he were running the race?

I am working on it still. I sure hope someone is with me.

Interesting. Is that course conducive to running a fast time? Obviously, staying in your back yard removes the stress of travel and changing time zones. But, why run there rather than Chicago, Twin Cities, Steamtown(?), or St. George? At these races it's fairly certain you would have people to run with, and they are generally considered fast courses. Also, on October 7 in Sac, isn't it possible that it still might be really hot on race day?
Not trying to be overly critical. Just curious about the thinking and strategy.
Thanks and good luck.

Yeah staying home is the big plus. I don't really think the weather will be a problem there. I was thinking about doing St. George but this sounds better. Working on getting some help. I ran 1:10 is the half in 2002 without much effort. I can train on the course if I choose to. I traveled to Grandmas and it sucked. I can't really afford to go across the country again (Chicago) and then yet again (NYC) if I do qualify. It's not like I am raking in the $$$ with all this running, I have a family.
Cabada to run the SF Marathon? Any rhyme or reason to this? Brings some legitimacy to the event at least.
Cabada is in some real need of a coach. I think that Chapman is a very nice individual. But he has no idea what he is doing if he is allowing Fernando to run San Fransisco Marathon (even if it is just as a training run) 4 weeks before the most important race he has ever run in his life. For those that follow the sport, the WC is more competitive than any marathon in the world. This includes both London and the Olympic Games.
I believe Cabada is only using the SF 'thon as a training run... possibly go 20 miles at marathon pace or something. Everyone should worry about their own training, let the pro handle himself... he seems to be getting on the right track again.
he wasn't in the results of the race, any word on what he did? (i.e not run, 20 miles at tempo,)
Where was Cabada? Is he still in NoCal?
