Keino owned Ryun when? In '68, at 7,800 feet altitude in Mexico City, when Jipcho took it out at an insane pace - you mean that one time? Other than that, Ryun kicked Keino's, and every other miler's, ass from 1966 through 1968 at any venue besides Mexico City.

Scott doesn't belong. He wasn't even the best of his team, he was maybe third best in the world in his heyday. There's no way he makes the cut. Cram and Ovett were both better than him.

El G belongs on any miling top-5 list, and Gunder Hagg, the guy who first went 4:00 deserves to be on that list, if, in fact, it is an all time list.

Steve Scott not one of the top 7 milers? Under 4 minutes over 150 times, more then anyone else in history. Right...

Dude, the topic was not "History's Top 7 *American* milers." If that were the category, then Scott clearly belongs in the Top 7.

But the topic covers all milers, not just those that come from the United States. I think Scott was great, but the guy never set a World Record, never won an Olympic medal, and never won a World Championship medal. He does not belong in the Top 7 of all-time great milers. Frankly, I don't think he makes the Top 20.
