The female tracks athletes are a disgrace with their bikini bottoms. I can’t watch the meet with my wife/children/grandmother.

Absurd post. But at high school meets, I do sometimes feel that the female athletes would benefit from more coverage. It's different for girls vs. adults and there's room for debate there, I think.

I have seen the line pushed for years. We have gone from shorts to panties to now some function more like a thong. 5 steps into a race and the whole thing is up their crack with near full exposure. As a woman I feel so bad for them. How in the world can you focus on your race in a packed stadium with your whole behind showing and an atomic wedgie? I really don’t get why anyone would choose that situation for an important performance. I guess I am old, but even in high school I would have hated this and might not have run track at all if wearing something like this was a requirement. In 10 years time women are going to be just toeing the line naked.

Different sport, different needs. Swimmers need one-piecers to reduce drag, whereas runners need to minimize coverage in order to maximize venting excess heat and range of motion.

I tried to explain once to an ex-girlfriend (non-runner) that what female runners wear is purely functional, but she wasn't buying it. She was too uptight. Did I mention she's now an ex?

Are there any credible reports that anyone has been asked to wear these types of shorts by their team/coach/sponsor?

I was always under the impression that they have a variety of bottoms to choose from, like half tights or even full tights if they want.

And i'm pretty darn sure you can run fast in just regular old running shorts since... many wr's and many of the all time fastest performances in sprints, middle, and long distances were run in running shorts. [ see: Grant Holloway, El G, Bekele, etc].

What I'd like to hear about is what people, and especially women feel about having to see men's schlongs bounce all around during slow mo replays of sprint races, and the awkward bulges coming from all different angles during post race interviews with many a tuck and adjustment going on. 😳 what do the OP's wife and grandma think about that?!

Women- " don't objectify us and focus your attention on our bodies as sex objects. Focus on our performances as athletes.
