Not at all. It was a great run by Hedengren. But it was not nearly as impressive as what Valby did two years ago. Hedengren was actually in 2nd place with a lap to go. The pacer for Valby dropped out at 5000 in 15:30 and she then soloed a 15:20 and began to lap the field by 5100 meters.

Jane might have quite a bit more in her, right now, in this event.

Old rule of thumb: take your 5000 pr, add 30 secs, then double it for your projected 10,000 pr.

Valby didn’t have to pass anyone. Hedengren did. Hedengren had no pacemaker and led more of the race than Valby did. Advantage Hedengren.

Yes, so did Hedengren. I meant as in she had to pass an extra runner in Kosgei while Valby didn’t. That takes extra energy.
