The tactical maturity of Lutkenhaus is incredible. I wonder what his tactic is in the final? I think front-running could be a viable strategy. I see Attoui as his biggest threat.
No need to front-run if someone is going to take it out in 50.
Good effort/positioning from Dolan. Just didn’t have it. No one expected him to make the US team going into this season so good for him for surpassing most of our expectations.
Lutkenhaus: Is "Poisoned" by his own 1:44.29. He arrives at the final with "Neural-Flat" legs. Attaoui: Is "Vibrantly Fresh" after a "Monastic" calibration. The Verdict: Lutkenhaus won the "Neural Shock" battle today, but he has "given the rope" to Attaoui for tomorrow.

I have listened to him being interviewed in a few different podcasts, and he studies 800 videos of notable races. One of the things that is impressive about him is his intellectual approach to the sport. His tactics look completely different from world outdoors. I think missing out on the first round last fall will ultimately be the best thing that could have happened.

I don’t think any of those guys in the final will take it.

The kid is so far ahead of the curve and just keeps putting money in the bank. He learned a ton from last season, and has done great navigating the rounds at this championship. He's got as good a shot as any in medaling tomorrow. But even if he doesn't, he's already way ahead of where a 17yo has any business being. Win or lose, this indoor season is another success. If he continues on this path, he's gonna be untouchable in his 20s.

Cooper just nonchalantly dropped the #2 performer all-time at the WCI and #3 all-time World Indoor Championship time in history behind Kipketer's (DEN), 1:42.67 from '97 and 1:43.96 in his heat that same championship. He is now ahead of Borzakovsky (RUS) and Hoey, both World Champions.
Attaoui will not be a factor for Lutkenhaus tomorrow.

He looked like a scared kid in over his head at world outdoors last fall, and now he is out there with main character energy controlling his rounds. Given that tactics are usually more difficult to get right in indoors that is remarkable. I think the team of people behind him deserve some credit for how sharp he got so quickly. He is being coached and advised well. Night and day difference to how he is responding to the pressure and nerves in a world event. Whatever they are doing with him should be studied.

This idiot made the same post in the other thread. As someone there told him, the writing is on the wall and Attaoui will be looking to move to the 1500 after Cooper dominates him all summer.
