English Teacher here! I have so many options:
My all-time favorite is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I teach it yearly with my students and they love it. They love the aspect of the American Dream and "old money" vs "new money". Fitzgerald's prose is absolutely fantastic and although the writing is flourishing, the plot and symbolism is fairly easy to grasp and understand. A lot of the ideas expressed by Fitzgerald when he wrote Gatsby in 1925 are relevant today.
Since this is LetsRun, my favorite running book is The Perfect Mile by Neal Bascomb, which is about the race to break 4 minutes in the mile. It's a great read and reads a ton more like a story than a non-fiction quasi-biography. I also highly recommend Men of Oregon by Kenny Moore.
Other favorites:
1. Fault in our Stars by John Green
2. Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica
3. Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
HAPPY READING!
