Nico could be better than Fisher. hard to say. Fisher was really, REALLY good last year until he got derailed by the hamstring injury.
Though losing to Coscoran in the very slow 3000 is a bit of a blemish for him.

Grant has a longer record of excellence and consistency. It’s so harsh to just write people off like this and likely RoJo momentary hyperbole. Why can’t we appreciate what they’re both doing rather than pitting them against each other in attempt to claim who is better? Grant is older and more experienced. Also what he accomplished at the Olympics is very rare. Nico is performing at a very high level though he is younger. He has potential to do great things in the future but as we know nothing is guaranteed.
It really must suck to be a distance runner in the US. Peoples long term memory seems to about 1 season, so you are completely written off if you dont have a continous upward trajectory.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not limited to American runners. People said four years ago that Jakob was done improving.
I had to get to page 2 of the thread before anyone mentioned Grant's 4:49.48 2000 2nd place, under the old world record.
These are two truly world class distance runners. Let's see how 2026 plays out when they go head to head, let alone how they fare over the outdoor season.

Grant’s 2000m was very good, and at a distance which is shorter than his best, but it is not a great time in and of itself, only great for a 10000m stud. After all, Jakob almost ran 3000m at that pace, with his 2000m average at 4:51.7 and then running another 1000m at that pace.

Nico is clearly the heir-apparent, but let's not jump the gun here
You think he takes Hocker in everything from the 5 down?

Fisher crushed him two days later.
Really? How many global medals has he won? How many American records has he broken?
