For once can we have a super bowl performer we can understand what they're signing? I had no idea what Kendrick Lamar was saying, and I won't be able to understand this Bunny fellow either. In my opinion, Morgan Wallen would be a fantastic choice.
I was working in a place where Kendrick Kamar's big song was played a couple times each night.
It sounded like he was saying "I aint scared of spooky Larry!"
The only thing I agreed with him about the "performance" was "turn the TV off".
Look, I dont know what you people expect. It's commercial break entertainment. The NFL is not trying to entertain YOU. YOU are tuning in for the football game. The halftime show is for people who DON'T care about football, but who might watch if their favorite bad pop music act is playing. Your whining and the media attention surrounding it only helps the NFL reach these kinds of people.
I don't know about that. The NFL is a business with the goal of generating maximum profit. I don't think they want to intentionally provoke their fans by being political and making statements one way or the other. Look no further than what happened with Kappernick. That was embarrassing for the NFL and they lost a lot of money during that time.
Anytime you as a business try to unite, the result is even more division because not everyone will buy the message and the detractors will indeed unite against you. The best strategy is to appear politically neutral. Bad Bunny seems pretty popular with young Latin Americans but also appeals across a spectrum. It's a chance for the NFL to capitalize on his popularity and draw a higher Latino viewership without alienating other ethnic and social groups. It's low risk, high reward. It's all about analyzing demographics to make money.
The country superstars you are alluding to are liked by millions of football fans, but minority groups who dislike country music and patriotism will accuse the NFL of Trump support, nationalism, fascism, and jingoism. It's too financially risky to go the conservative patriotic American route unless one of these country stars is playing at the Republican National Convention. Not saying it's fair, but that is how it is.
It was, and yet they circled the wagons and didn't give in. Why? Because the "owners" fundamentally believe that "owners" is exactly what they are.
The NFL seems deeply backward and insular at its core, regardless of window dressing. They are family dynasties of spoiled billionaires who get paid for doing little to nothing, while players (most are black) put their bodies and brains on the line for a tiny percentage. And somehow they get their stadiums paid for by taxpayers who get no equity in return.
I know he is a popular entertainer. I have never heard his music or watched him perform. But it is irrelevant because even if I watch the Super Bowl, I won't watch the halftime show. In my experience they usually suck just because of poor sound quality even if I care about the performer.
Oh no. A personal of color on television? This is magas worst nightmare.
Oh no! A person of color as FBI director, a person of color as Second Lady, a gay man as SecTreas - in a Trump admonistration - TDSers worst nightmare!
