But I don't get how people think this Kimmel case is the right cracking down on speech. Fox News lost hundreds of millions in the Dominion voting case. If you report fake news, it can cost you a ton of money. Jimmy Kimmel falsely said the assasin (or implied) was MAGA which is the opposite of the truth.
Here's the actual Kimmel quote that got him in trouble: "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving."
It's a stretch to compare that to the months long conspiracy peddling by Fox about Dominion voting machines.
It's not even clear that Kimmel said that the killer kid is MAGA. What he said is the MAGA gang is trying to characterize the killer as not MAGA. There had been rumors out there that the killer cam from a MAGA family (true) and felt Kirk wasn't MAGA enough (false).
