Nobody forced her to say anything about medals. Many people don’t find delusion inspiring.

World record holder indoor mile failed. World champ 800 failed. Olympic Silver medalist shot put failed. But the person with no accomplishments before this who qualified is the subject of your scorn. Why do you fellas hate her? This is bizarre.

Delusion is way too strong a word. There are two separate questions: 1) Is she likely to medal at Worlds? Of course not, it would be absolutely shocking if she did. 2) Is there anything wrong with her saying her goal is to medal in an interview? Also of course not. While it would be shocking if she did, it wouldn’t even crack the top 10 most shocking things that have happened at a major track meet in history. It would be delusional for some 20 minute 5ker to say that’s their goal, it’s highly unlikely but not delusional for someone who has actually qualified for Worlds and run 14:25 this year.

If she snags a bronze running 14:30, people will still say it doesn't count and it was handed to her.

I give her a 25% chance of medalling.

What was even more cringe than the interview content and that Jersey dialect was the fact that a 30yr old adult woman is parading around with a huge teddy bear in public and in the interview . Seriously? Want to put that toy aside and act your age?
