Just so everyone knows, the actual Woodbridge staff aren't doing the rankings, it's rich gonzalez who ranks the teams and gives the rankings to the staff who update the website. This is just another example of rich gonzalez being a lazy bum again and leaving promises unfulfilled. does anyone even know what else he does in life besides rank high School runners? I would think he has all the time in the world to get this done.
Was getting downvoted for saying Mario Montoya would break 14 at Woodbridge. Him and that Sanchez kid from redondo are going to continue to shock everyone along with the rest of the top 5-7.
Boys winner is gonna be Caden Leonard, girls is gonna be Braelyn Combe, and I'm predicting an easy girls union Catholic win and a massive boys upset, I'm predicting Mira Costa to win and be ranked the number 1 team in the country, their number 1 went 4:10 and their number 2 went 4:11 during track. I'm predicting those 2 to go 13:4x and with their number 5 at 4:21, I think all their 5 are going under 14:30, also, I think Herriman doesn't even podium, especially considering their 5th returner has only gone 4:29
Palos Verde Mini Meet Mira Costa results:
2024:
10:18
10:21
10:24
10:28
10:31
2025:
10:06
10:12
10:23
10:27
10:30
Mira Costa seems to be better this year than last year, but not to the point that they showed that they will be #1 in the nation. They took 10th at the state meet merge last year.
Any rated teams that are being underestimated (or requested to be in the rated race)?
Surprised to see Foothill Tech down there. I thought they were going to be Div 4 title contenders. But I guess the level for Div 4 is just going to be much lower compared to last year

I would guess that out of state teams are the most likely to be underrated as Rich Gonzalez is going to know those teams pretty well. For the boys, that's Casteel (AZ), Eagle (ID), Herriman B (UT), and Page (AZ). Page is likely not going to be competitive because their #1 is in the sweepstakes. Herriman's B team is still good and everyone knows it.
That leaves Casteel and Eagle.
Casteel had boys run 1:57/4:21, 4:24/9:35, 1:56/4:35, 4:35/9:53, and 1:59/4:46. They also had a boy run 10:34. Their XC PR's from last year are 15:47, 16:11, 16:29, 16:58, 17:07, 17:33, 17:34. They have run 16:16, 16:47, 16:47, 16:58, 16:59, 17:30 so far this season. Casteel won the Western Equinox XC Invite and had boys run 16:34, 16:47, 16:50, 16:58 and 17:24 at Chandler Invitational, which runs races by class (Highland had boys run 16:08, 16:39, 16:42 17:03, 17:33, so they would have at least lost to them).
Eagle had boys run 1:59/4:22, 4:25/9:33, 4:35/9:48, 4:42/10:10 (9:54 in indoors at Simplot Games), 4:44/9:55, 4:44/10:14, 4:44/10:17 last outdoor season. Their XC PR's from last year are 15:54, 15:55, 16:10, 16:23, 16:49, 16:59, 17:19. They have run 16:04, 16:22, 16:29, 16:41, 17:00, 17:01, 17:06, 17:16, 17:19 so far this season. They have run a complete team once at the Jimmy Driscoll Invitational, where they lost to Boise High School.
Eagle appears on the Tullyrunners watchlist, while Casteel does not. The only other team in the rated race to also appear is Ayala.

I wonder if Cherry Creek boys team is racing cause they were 7th in the most recent big Colorado race. I would totally see Rich overlooking them

I think Ayala boys deserve to be in the sweepstakes race now. They bounced back at PR city
That’s absolute nonsense those smooth brained chimps probably will run 14:30 at best. I have seen their progress and I am guessing they are on something illegal and should be looked into.

I completely agree! In fact, I think Redondo will all be rolled and led by their superstar sophomore White Lightning! Their secret weapon prepared to destroy the nation and run sub 13 at Woodbridge!
I hope she is continuing training with her former coach from California as the coaching at Wylie east is not the best. The coach has a large ego and can never seem to get his runners to perform at the standard he claims they can.
I disagree! White Lightning was running 80 mile weeks all summer according to Strava, but ever since he announced his album his training hasn't been the same. I think that super freshman Sota will instead lead Redondo to the state title and nxn.
