Your king RFK just climbed into bed with Big Pharma and you have no response
Cleveland Clinic. 53,000 employees. Flu vaxxed MORE LIKELY to get sick with flu compared to Flu unvaxxed. This is bigger than whoever has the job of HHS Secretary.
I mean, how should a person interpret this ? The unvaxxed were lucky because they had a lower rate of infection ? The flu shot was "weak" this season ? The vaxxed were mistakenly given shots of normal saline ?
Negative VE shows up usually when you have poor controlling for confounding. Since certainly populations are much more likely to get flu vaccines.
I do agree the flu vaccine tech is terrible and an mRNA vaccine against a universal antigen would save us hundreds of millions of dollars each year and be more effective!

RFK is on the record supporting an mRNA vaccine for the flu.
Turns out, as usual, those morons at the Cleveland Clinic still haven’t learned to control for basic confounded in their yearly regular antivaxx publications.

This thread is supposedly about the measles vaccine. That has almost 98% efficacy. The flu vaccine is notoriously difficult to get right. Too many strains and rapid mutations. This year’s flu vaccine wasn’t effective in Cleveland at least. And has nothing to do with misinformation about the measles vaccine. Those kids would’ve been alive and well, but their parents made a poor choice. Imagine how we would react if the parents were driving on the highway with the kids in the back of a pickup truck.

It's well known that the flu vaccine isn't all that effective every single year. They have to predict what strain will be most prevalent long before flu season and hope they get it right. mRNA technology could change this.
Nevertheless, on the average if you get your flu shot every year you'll get the flu a lot less often and you'll have milder symptoms when you do get it.
When I was in college everyone who played sports would be given a flu shot. It was absolutely the cheapest, easiest thing you could do to improve your team's odds of success that season. Imagine blowing through a budget of hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in a season, only for half your team to get sick right before the conference meet or your first playoff game.
As far as people who got the shot being more likely to get the flu, that was probably a poorly controlled study as there is absolutely no reason the shot would increase your odds of getting sick. Perhaps employees who deal directly with sick patients were more likely to get the flu shot in the first place. Or maybe employees who got the shot were less careful around sick patients and family members.

Spot on. It was poorly controlled. See my tweet above.
This group runs the same crappy analysis on their datasets and finds every vaccine makes you sicker. Nobody else can replicate it because they’re smart enough to do basic controls for confounders.
