The move by Blanks was actually really smart. Came into the race with the 33rd fastest seed time. Is just now getting into the swing of things from his injury. The pack was very tight so it could have been anyone's race (and I doubt he had a huge a kick at this point still getting into the swing of things post-injury)
Him dropping that fast of a lap ensured that he was going to score points and it eliminated any fringe athletes that might be able to stick around and close quick enough to score points. Context matters.
